You’ve probably noticed a small flame with a number next to it on your MemoirME home screen. That’s your Streak — and it’s one of the simplest, most personal features in the app. Here’s what it actually does, how it works when life gets in the way, and why it’s worth keeping alive.

Your Streak counts the days you’ve shown up for yourself in MemoirME. Every day you write a diary entry or have a conversation with your AI Buddy, that day counts — and your streak grows by one.
That’s it. There’s no leaderboard, no ranking against other users, no public score. Your streak is completely private — it belongs to you and no one else. Think of it less like a game and more like a small candle you keep lit: a quiet marker of the days you paused to reflect.
A few things worth knowing about how it’s counted:
The whole point of Streak is to build a gentle habit, not to guilt you into one. So it comes with two built-in safety nets for the days you inevitably miss.
A second chance. If you miss a day, you have until the end of the next day to write something and your streak is saved automatically — no cost, no action needed beyond just showing up again. You get a few of these free saves over the course of a month, so the occasional busy day never has to be the end of a long streak.
Freeze credits, for bigger gaps. Everyone starts with a stock of Freeze credits. If a longer gap of missed days catches up with you, you can spend one Freeze credit per missed day to patch the hole and keep your streak going — and this can reach back further than the automatic same-streak save, so even a rough week or two doesn’t have to cost you a streak you’ve built for months. If you ever run low, you can top up your Freeze credits from within the app.
Or, if you’d rather draw a line and start fresh, that’s always an option too — no freezes required, no penalty beyond starting the count again from zero.
As your streak grows, MemoirME marks the moments that matter with a badge — small recognitions at 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 365, and 500 days. They’re yours to keep once earned, a little scrapbook of your own consistency.
Written a diary entry on a flight, or somewhere with no signal? Your activity is safely recorded on your device and quietly synced to your streak the next time you’re back online — so a bad connection is never the reason a day doesn’t count.
MemoirME exists to help you hold onto the moments that make up a life — and the honest truth about memory is that it rewards small, regular effort far more than the occasional big gesture. A single long journal entry once a month captures a handful of moments. A minute or two, most days, captures a life as it’s actually being lived.
That’s really what your Streak is measuring: not a score, not a competition, just the shape of a habit you’re building — one quiet check-in at a time. The freeze and recovery safety nets exist because we don’t think a habit like this should feel fragile or stressful; a missed Tuesday shouldn’t erase your progress. But the flame is still there each day as a small, friendly nudge: you showed up yesterday — want to again today?
Keep the flame lit, even in small ways, and a year from now you’ll have something most people never get around to building: an honest, ongoing record of who you were becoming, day by day.
